Η 56χρονη Ελένη Αναγνωστοπούλου, που διέμενε στον 3ο όροφο πολυκατοικίας, πραγματοποίησε την θανατηφόρα πτώση και από την προανάκριση του Αστυνομικού Τμήματος Τρικάλων, έχει αποκλειστεί το ενδεχόμενο της εγκληματικής ενέργειας.
Η 56χρονη που φέρεται να έδωσε τέλος στην ζωή της, λόγω και αξεπέραστων οικονομικών προβλημάτων, αφήνει πίσω της δύο παιδιά.

MP claims Foreign Office is ‘playing avoidance game’ over Bradley Manning
Foreign secretary William Hague is playing an “avoidance game” over a gay US soldier accused of leaking classified documents to WikiLeaks, an MP has claimed.
Ann Clwyd, a Labour MP who is the former human rights envoy to Iraq, also accused the Foreign Office of “continued stonewalling” of Mr Manning’s mother, Susan, who is Welsh.
The 23-year-old American was held in solitary confinement until recently and concerns were raised about his treatment. He was required to strip regularly and was held in a bare cell.
Last month, he was moved to a medium-security prison in Kansas following lengthy assessments. He is now able to live alongside other prisoners and his surroundings have been described as more comfortable.
Mrs Manning wrote to the Foreign Office last month to ask officials to visit her son and check on his physical and mental health, the Guardian reports.
Ms Clwyd criticised the department for not responding to Mrs Manning’s letter within a week.
“Susan Manning also asked for any help that could be given, in Washington and elsewhere, to the family if they so request it,” she said. “At the very least, Mrs Manning, who is very concerned by the situation of her son, should have had the courtesy of a reply.”
She added: “This avoidance game they are playing can only be completely deliberate.”
Alistair Burt, parliamentary under secretary of state at the Foreign Office, said the department was “limited” in its actions because Mr Manning does not consider himself British.
However, Mrs Clwyd argued that Mr Manning is British by descent as his mother is Welsh.
Mrs Manning visited her son in February and said that conditions were having a “damaging” effect on him. She has also asked for consular assistant for future visits.
The Foreign Office said last month that the British embassy in Washington had relayed MPs’ concerns about Mr Manning’s treatment to the White House. it also confirmed that it was considered Mrs Manning’s letter and would reply shortly.

The targeting of Cambodian journalists through defamation and disinformation legislation and the closure of an opposition newspaper were responsible for a decline in the Kingdom’s world ranking for press freedom last year, according to a report released yesterday.
According to the Freedom of the Press 2011 report, released by United States-based watchdog organisation Freedom House in conjunction with World Press Freedom Day, Cambodia’s press freedom ranking plunged to 141 for 2010 out of 196 countries and territories rated, compared with a ranking of 134 for 2009.
The report described Cambodia as “not free” and declared that the number of people worldwide with access to free and independent media had dropped to its lowest level in over a decade.
Cambodia’s ranking also declined within the Asia-Pacific region to 30 in 2010 out of 40 countries and territories, compared with a ranking of 29 in 2009. “Cambodia’s score ... deteriorated due to an aggressive use of disinformation and defamation legislation against journalists, as well as a reduction in media diversity following the closure of an opposition newspaper,” the report said.
Opposition newspaper Khmer Machas Srok relaunched in March after closing down in June 2010 due to funding shortages and illness suffered by its publisher, Heng Chakra. Heng Chakra was jailed for disinformation in 2009 for articles published in Khmer Machas Srok which alleged that officials working for Deputy Prime Minister Sok An had been involved in corruption. He received a royal pardon in April last year.
Moeun Chhean Narridh, director of the Cambodia Institute for Media Studies, said yesterday that defamation and disinformation legislation had been used by some government officials to deliberately prosecute journalists.
“It constitutes political harassment,” he said. “The government needs to remove the criminal provision from [defamation and disinformation] law.”
Moeun Chhean Narridh added that the government must adopt a draft law on freedom of information.
“We need a legal framework that guarantees access to information,” he said.
Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith told The Post in December that a draft policy paper on freedom of information finalised by the government in 2007 – which would serve as a framework for a draft law – was at the Ministry of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection.
Khieu Kanharith could not be reached for comment last night, but said at a World Press Freedom Day event in Phnom Penh yesterday that the government encouraged the delivery of information to the public through different forms of media.
According to a report released at the event by the Cambodian Association for the Protection of Journalists, a number of cases had been brought against journalists for defamation and disinformation over the past year but no journalists had been charged, imprisoned or killed.

BANGKOK, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Chong Chom/O'Smach immigration checkpoint on the Thai-Cambodian border in Thailand's northeastern Surin province was reopened on Wednesday morning after military leaders of both sides held another round of ceasefire talks.
Lt-Gen Tawatchai Samutsakhon, Thailand's Army Region 2 commander, went across the border to meet Lt-Gen Chea Mon, commander of Cambodia's 4th Army Region, at the O'Smach Resort Hotel where the two military commanders discussed strict implementation of a ceasefire, the Bangkok Post online reported.
They agreed that if a clash took place, the unit commanders of the two sides must immediately contact each other to stop it and prevent it from recurring.
Chong Chom/O'Smach crossing was subsequently opened at 10 a.m. local time to the relief of traders on both sides of the border. It had been closed for 13 days since the latest round of border fighting between the two neighboring countries erupted near the Ta Muen Thom and Ta Kwai temples on April 22, halting cross-border trade.
Both Thai and Cambodian traders were expected to fully resume business, according to the report.
Truce agreement that the field commanders of both sides reached on April 28 was breached as the border skirmishes continued on April 29. The situation in the border area has become stable over the past few days with only small-arms clashes occurred occasionally. A Thai soldier was killed while three others wounded from gunfire exchanges Monday night and early Tuesday.

PHNOM PENH - CAMBODIA will use the local currency for trading on its soon-to-be-launched stock exchange, officials said on Saturday, in a bid to boost the use of the riel in the heavily dollarised country.
Stock quotations must be in riel only, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Cambodia (SECC) said in a statement on its website, ending a debate about whether listings on the bourse, set to open in July, should be in riel, US dollars or a combination of both.
But for the first three years, 'if buyers and sellers both agree, then they can arrange to settle payments in US dollars", Chan Narith, director of the SECC's securities market supervision department, told AFP.
Cambodia has a long-term goal to reduce reliance on the greenback, which according to the Asian Development Bank makes up more than 90 per cent of all currency in circulation in Cambodia.
The country signed an agreement in 2008 with representatives from South Korea's stock exchange, the Korea Exchange (KRX), Asia's fourth-largest bourse operator, to establish a stock market in 2009 but the launch date has been pushed back twice.
While still among one of the world's poorest countries, Cambodia has emerged from decades of conflict as one of the region's rising economies.

The shocking news for me Tsunami waves hit Hawaii in the early morning hours Friday and were sweeping through the island chain after an earthquake 8.9 magnitude in Japan about 80 miles sparked evacuations throughout the Pacific and as far as the U.S. western coast.
Friday’s 8.9 magnitude earthquake is the fifth largest recorded by the United States Geological Survey since 1900 as follows.

Japanese television images, reposted by Britain’s Telegraph newspaper, captured a whirlpool off the eastcoast of Japan.
Waves of muddy waters swept over farmland near the city of Sendai. At Sendai airport, north of Tokyo, was inundated with cars, trucks, buses and thick mud deposited over its runways.
There are reports of injuries in Tokyo from a massive, magnitude 8.9 earthquake off Japan’s northeastern coast. Japanese TV shows a refinery fire has broken out.

The government has confirmed 23 deaths, with the number expected to rise. It follows the 8.9-magnitude earthquake which sent a 4-metre wall of water inland across the Miyagi prefecture . There’s considerable destruction – 200 people have been washed away. Buildings, cars and ships were also swept by the raging waters. Several are missing on Japan’s Sendai island. The first wave has also reached Russia’s Kuril islands to the north, reportedly around a metre high. There are several fires along Japan’s eastern coastline, and 4 million homes are without power. The Prime Minister’s ordered an emergency response team to tackle the disaster – with aircraft scrambled to the worst-affected area. Communication is crippled and Tokyo’s Norita International Airport has been closed. The entire Pacific region is on tsunami alert – with Hawaii braced to be hit within the next few hours.
A friend sent us a video showing a store in Japan where employees, customers and goods on the racks were violently rattled by the earthquake.
Evidently a fan of Japanese animation, posted a claustrophobic video of the earthquake rattling his shelves of books and videotapes.

It caused a four-metre tsunami in the port city of Kamishi and its tremors shook buildings in the capital Tokyo, over 300 kilometres away.

The major earthquake off Japan’s north-eastern coast has triggered tsunami warnings across the Pacific.
The Tsunami Warning Centre in Hawaii has widened its original alert to include Hawaii and the rest of the Pacific Ocean.
Alerts were issued as far apart as Australia and New Zealand, Mexico and Central and South America, the Philippines and Taiwan, off the Chinese mainland.
Any tsunami would take several hours to travel across 3,800 miles of ocean from Japan to Hawaii.
The estimated time of arrival was put at around 1pm UK time.

Hey, welcome to our blog. We hope you had a good week and are all set and ready for a great weekend. Something for the weekend Sir?
Hey, welcome to our blog, whilst driving back from town I experienced something that after, I wont say how many let's just say very many years, Road rage all because I "dared" to sound my horn on a driver who tried to carve me up and push me off the road in order to get in front of me the whole thing ended up at the traffic lights with him kicking my passenger door because I'd locked it and he couldn't open it to get at me. Driving here is not an pleasure, they tend to drive cars the way they ride motor bikes darting from lane to lane without signals in order to be up front.
However a good friend and I made up for it in a way by visiting our brand new Hilton for their Buffet lunch. The restaurant is on the 15th floor overlooking the harbour, way above the chaos in the streets below and all that including a G&T vay and service for 500 Thai Bts that's About 10 GBP's Pretty good value eh?
