Thai shells destroy a Cambodian road leading to Ta Moan temple

Cambodian-Thai border: A Cambodian general stationed on the frontline reported that Thai troops shelled and destroyed a paved road inside Cambodia, near Ta Moan temple, Banteay Ampil district, Banteay Meanchey province.

General Chum Hun, the commander of the army civil and construction unit No. 711 – an engineering division of the RCAF – indicated that about 1 km of road stretch from the cross road in Prasat Chan temple to the foothill of Ta Moan temple, was hit and destroyed by 13 Thai heavy artillery shells on 25 April 2011.

Chum Hun indicated also that on 24 April 2011, one Thai artillery shell fell on his unit headquarters. However, mechanical equipments for road construction were evacuated out beforehand and they were not damaged.

As of 02PM on 26 April 2011, at the Ta Moan and Ta Krabei temples frontline, the guns fell silent.
