The Big Return

Back after a week off for a little Thanksgiving vacation and I must say I’m feeling refreshed.

Lebron James returns to Cleveland

Lebron James returns to Cleveland

Apparently, another somebody — not that I consider myself a ‘somebody’ — is making a spectacular return tonight. Have you heard? Lebron James returns to Cleveland to face his former team, city and state tonight. If you’re already beat down by the hype don’t turn on ESPN TV or ESPN Radio today.

That said, we all know controversy sells. I’ll betcha the first quarter gets huge numbers before the casual fan realizes they’re watching two mediocre teams play and there’s a game on the NFL Network.

LeBron as the Ex-Boyfriend
Remember what it’s like when you run in to an ex-boyfriend the first time? That’s the feeling in Cleveland today. Tonight’s the chance for the Cavaliers fan to express some of that pent-up anger, just like you would towards that asshole you used to date — so I’ve heard.

Would anyone be surprised if some local yokel tries to make a name for himself tonight by doing something stupid? The risk there being directly influenced by how much grain is consumed today.

I expect vulgar language, hand gestures and over-the-top fanaticism from the Cavs fan but when it’s all over I think LeBron’s return to Cleveland winds up being another ESPN-fueled non-story.

By the way, whenever you see your ex out with another guy it makes you feel better if your date/trick is as hot or you can appear uninterested. Let’s be honest, Cleveland’s not as good looking as Miami and there’s no chance they’re going to act like they don’t care tonight.

Bitterness
Cleveland is extremely bitter because, once again, Cleveland got dumped by the hot boyfriend. It doesn’t matter how or why someone leaves you, you’re going to be angry. The intense hatred of all-things LeBron in Cleveland resonates with us because we’ve all suffered the pangs of rejection.
